The Top Political Podcasts to Binge-Listen Now
If you need recommendations for True Crime podcasts, I’m your girl. Crime Junkie, Murderish, The Evidence Locker, and Sword and Scale are only a few of the shows I listen to religiously. Sure, I pop into “The Daily”, but when it comes to political podcasts as a whole, I’m a novice looking to become informed. Fortunately, many of my friends and family are so much more in tune than I am. Here are some recommendations they’ve given me, listed below. I hope you’ll listen along with me…
For if you’re into public health…
There are few people who know podcasts as well as my friend @thedariaedits so it’s no surprise that she was the first person I asked specifically about politically-focused shows. “Pod Save The World” is geared primarily towards foreign policy, its effects on public health, and vice versa.
For examining the law…
My friend Joyce is a law student at NYU who is not only a cat-lover but an avid listener of podcasts. Her taste lies somewhere between politics and economics so for you folks looking to delve into legal culture, “Strict Scrutiny” is the way to go. I myself can’t wait to give it a listen.
For if you want to jam…
When Daria recommended “Keep It” to me a few months ago, I immediately got hooked. If your preferred setting is chatting politics while schmoozing on the couch with a few friends, a few drinks and a nice track in the background, this is going to be as much for you as it is for me. In Daria’s words: “They will talk about politics but in a way that is more relaxed and mixed in with pop culture. They also center queer and black voices.”
For an insider’s take…
My mama started binging podcasts even before I did and definitely before I started my own. Among her favorites is “Death, Sex and Money,” but when I asked her today about political podcasts in particular, she recommended this one featuring former presidential candidate, Andrew Yang. I was a fan of him and his wife when I first saw him on the scene. This provides a chance to get to know him and his thoughts a lot better.
Still Curious? I know I sure am. As always tweet or email your reactions to me and my followers @dikayodata.
